It’s with mixed feelings that I enjoy a day like today. September 27, the temperature is in the mid-teens and I’m at my happy place, the lake. Summer has officially come to an end a few days ago and fall is upon us. Holidays are just a memory and the changing weather and cold is ahead of us. While there are things about winter that I’m ok with, the wnn b older I get, the harder they are to take and I find myself longing for the warmth of the summer sun on the dock, the paddleboard or the boat.
Today the seadoos came out of the water and dad and I took out the docks and the lifts. Sadly, no more days on the lake until spring. However, I’m so thankful for days like today. Beautiful weather, amazing fall colours, seeing a moose in the field in the drive up, and 1 on 1 time with my dad. Even though we worked our tails off today getting things ready for the upcoming freezing temperatures, I cherished every moment (except for the metal sliver in my finger).
The leaves are changing colours and falling but there is a peacefulness about this time of year. It’s quiet, there’s a crispness to the air, and we soak in each and every last bit of warmth whether it be outside in the sun or inside the cabin with the wood stove burning.
As my eyelids get heavy, I couldn’t have asked for a better fall day ๐
Thanks for a great day dad ๐งก
