Grandparent and grandkids time

Golf weekend followed by back to work meant some serious, uninterrupted grand kid time for my parents! Cinnamon bun making, art, boat store browsing, shop helping, playtime for everyone. I'm so grateful that the kids have the best grandparents that a son could ask for! These times they'll cherish forever, all of them!

Catching up after the summer

Back to work today after 2 months off. Not excited about getting back to work, but it was nice to catch up with everyone after the summer holidays. 

And, the work part was ok too..

Golf weekend with the boys

The annual Smith Sauer Bussiere invitational was once again a success. 18 holes at Shellbrook followed by 9 at Memorial Lake, 18 on Sunday at a tight Spiritwood course and 18 this morning at Memorial Lake. 3 great days of golf with some great guys! Thanks Troy & Trev.

And as a bonus, Noah played for Troy this morning who had to run back to town for his daughters bday party. Great job out there today Noah!

Small town golf courses

18 holes at Shellbrook yesterday. Nice little course. $34 for 18 holes. Followed by 9 at Memorial Lake. $15 for 9 holes. 18 at Spiritwood today for $34. Nice little tight course. 

Not busy and in great shape!

Looking forward to 18 more holes tomorrow morning at Memorial Lake.

Aurora Borealis

The northern lights.

If you've never seen them dancing across the northern skies, you're missing out on one of natures beautiful mysteries. 

Coming back to the cabin tonight from my buddies cabin, the skies were illuminated by the northern lights. I had to pull the car over and watch them for a few minutes. And when I got back to the cabin, my dad and I went down to the dock to watch them. I hadn't seen them in a while and it was awesome to just stand there in silence and watch them among the sky full of stars.

Fantasy football draft night

Always good to get together with the boys and Fantasy Football Draft night is as good of a reason as any. 

7:00pm start...technical difficulties delayed that by 2+ hours. Relocation to my basement.

Mini-sticks were pulled out while the crew assembled. The Icemen were in fine form!

A few cases of wobbly pops showed up and the draft eventually began. A couple of hours later, teams were selected and many empty cans had gathered at various places throughout the basement.

Who's on my team? I wouldn't be able to list them off for you but as of right now, I'm undefeated!

The opportunity to see the Hip live on their farewell tour

Tonight marks the final show The Tragically Hip will play in their farewell tour in front of their hometown crowd in Kingston Ontario. It would have been amazing to have been there! That being said, I'm very thankful that I was able to see them in Edmonton a few short weeks ago. Definitely pioneers in Canadian music and I'll never forget the many times I've been fortunate enough to see them live over the years.

Looking forward to watching their final show that I recorded on CBC tonight.

The temperature was perfect.

The lake/river was like glass.

The scenery was picturesque.

The company was awesome.

Little things we take for granted

My time at the lake is always special. Whether I'm on the lake or just relaxing at the cottage, there are so many gongs that help me reconnect with nature and help me refocus on what my priorities are.

Have you ever just discovered a small pocket inns pair of shorts or pants that you never realized was there before? You may have worn them dozens of times before and never knew it was there and then suddenly one day, bam-o! Your hand discovers a hidden pocket that is just he perfect size for a little loose change, a key, or something else that runs the risk of falling out of your pocket when you sit down.

Beaver Flats

I didn't think a prairie lake could be so pretty.

Had the opportunity to spend the weekend at Beaver Flat resort this weekend. I wasn't sure what to expect when it came to the lake itself to be completely honest with you but I was very pleasantly surprised. From the top of the river valley when I first set my eyes on the green hillsides with the river/lake at the base, I was sold that it would be a great weekend.

The weather was warm (little windy) and I was able to spend lots of time on the water wake surfing and paddle boarding, hiking, exploring, lounging in the sun and just generally relaxing with some awesome company. I had the chance to meet some wonderful people and enjoyed every minute of it!

Always great to explore some new places in Saskatchewan!

Loads of fun! Now I just need to buy one of those fancy boats that I can do it behind at Shell Lake!

It is truly a humbling game. Some holes go good, others not so good. Regardless of how each shot goes, it beats being at work. Especially when you have a couple of great kids to hit the links with!
